Visit Los Barriles
Possibly no other coastal village along the East Cape has so many things to do as Los Barriles. The small town packs a punch, as it’s the top place to visit for windsurfers and kiteboarders from December through March as winds push onto the land of Baja California Sur creating ideal wind sport conditions. The rugged lands outside of the town are prime to make a day trip to go horseback riding, off-roading with ATVs or simply to explore the place. Many anglers know the area as one of the top spots to fish in Los Cabos, and rightfully so. On the water in the Sea of Cortez, fly fishing is top-notch for species such as roosterfish, jacks, and even dorado, as many species stick close to the beaches for easy casting. You can hop on a half-day or full-day charter boat as well to target even larger species of dorado, snapper, and grouper. Snorkeling and diving aficionados flock to the area from October to February in an effort to get a glimpse of the rare whale shark pods that congregate in the sea. This is the definitive hot spot for living the waterman’s life.
