Santiago: A picturesque old-town

Founded in 1723, contemporarily known as Santiago, “Misión de Santiago el Apóstol” is a quaint, rustic town along the Central Cape of Los Cabos in Baja California Sur. Located about an hour north of San Jose del Cabo, it’s a perfect day trip to visit and get a full experience of a small, thriving Mexican pueblo. You can also visit its stunning botanical gardens. There is no other town that resembles the essence of inland character and beauty. Situated less than 10 miles from the natural hot springs of Agua Caliente, El Chorro, and Santa Rita, there are plenty of outdoorsy things to do with activities such as hiking trails along rushing waterfalls as well as planning a quiet lunch at the Palomar Restaurant, one of the only places near the area to stop for a traditional Mexican lunch. Be sure to stop in on July 25 when the town celebrates the feast day of St. James, a most memorable affair.
