5:00 PM a 7:00 PM - THE SONG OF THE WHALES
The boat moves forward at the sea. Sunset falls with an explosion of colors. You can take pictures at any moment during the trip or at one of the particular points where the guide stops to highlight these unrepeatable moments. There will be 7 minutes before and 7 minutes after sunset that will reveal their own unique range of colors.
When you reach the encounter point the captain will stop the boat and request total silence. A hydrophone will be submerged into the sea and the captain will listen closely with a pair of headphones to locate the song of the whales. When detected, the captain will amplify the sound so that everyone can appreciate it. A courtship song will flood the atmosphere. This love opera happens only during the winter. Both males and females emit these vocalizations, but only the males emit prolonged and complex songs that characterize this extraordinary cetacean ritual.
You will enjoy a floating and open-aired cinema with rocks as the movie screen and the starry night sky all around. A 3-minute short film about the secrets of the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez will be screened. When finished, you will begin your trip back to the marina. We are sure your heart will beat full of emotion and excitement derived from this magical moments. On land, we will welcome you back with a glass of champagne and some canapés so you can share the impressions of your experience.
Also known as yubartas, humpback whales visit the Mexican sea every year in order to breed. Males can vocalize continuously for up to 24 hours. They lack vocal cords, so sounds are generated by forcing air through their huge nasal cavity. For an hour you will continue listening...
