Information about COVID-19 Tests in Los Cabos

Los Cabos is prepared to satisfy all traveler needs regarding COVID-19 testing to return to the United States and Canada. Travelers will find several options available from hospitals, labs, and lodging facilities like hotels, timeshares, and vacation rentals.

On Thursday, December 2nd, 2021, the U.S.’s Biden administration along with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced stricter testing requirements for all travelers entering the United States, including returning Americans, to curb the spread of the potentially dangerous omicron variant. Starting early next week the U.S. will require air travelers to provide a negative test within 24 hours of their departure and require all air travelers to get another test within three to five days after arrival to the U.S.

The new measures look to strengthen the current health and safety protocols that have been implemented by the U.S. government for international travelers and further support Los Cabos’ commitment to providing a safe travel environment to all travelers.

To support the new testing requirement, travelers visiting Los Cabos will find COVID-19 testing widely available at all hotels, resorts, villas, timeshares, selected medical facilities, and at the airport for emergency situations. Los Cabos’ testing program provides a convenient, safe, and easy way for tourists to get tested within 24 hours prior to their departure. Travelers returning to the U.S. are required to present:

  • Foreign travelers to the U.S. will continue to be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination and proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 24 hours of departure before boarding a U.S. bound airplane.
  • Unvaccinated U.S. citizens returning to the U.S. from international destinations will continue to be required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 24 hours of departure before boarding a U.S. bound airplane.
  • Vaccinated U.S. citizens returning to the U.S. from international destinations will now be required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 24 hours of departure before boarding a U.S. bound airplane.

Vaccines authorized by the FDA to enter the U.S.: Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, Janssen, AstraZeneca-Oxford, Sinopharm and Sinovac.

Fully vaccinated international travelers will not be required to quarantine upon their arrival in the U.S. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will also require airlines to conduct contract tracing and collect information from all U.S.-bound travelers.
