Sustainable Green Initiatives

Los Cabos is renowned for its dedication to sustainable green practices, taking pride in preserving its natural beauty while providing visitors with an opportunity to experience the destination responsibly and respectfully.

One of the most notable initiatives taken by Los Cabos is the Blue Flag Certification, which has been awarded to twenty-two of its beaches. This recognition is a testament to Baja California Sur's commitment to safety, accessibility, and sustainability. The beaches are closely monitored and cleaned to protect the endemic life onshore and in the waters.

Luxury resorts in Los Cabos have joined the conservation fight and their commitment to environmental responsibility has not gone unnoticed, with many earning Green Globe Certification. Standouts include the Hyatt Ziva for its sea turtle tracking program, the Grand Velas Los Cabos for its energy and water conservation initiatives, and Hotel El Ganzo for its use of solar panels and on-site organic produce.

Another initiative showcasing the region's dedication to protecting wildlife, specifically endangered sea turtles, is the Los Cabos Tortuguero Network. This award-winning program trains industry personnel to safeguard critical turtle spawning grounds, and invites guests of participating hotels to carry newborn turtles to the shoreline.

Eco Bac, Raben Mexico, Saving the Vaquita Porpoise, Niparajá, Grupo Tortuguero de Las Californias, and Asupmatoma are among the other organizations dedicated to researching, protecting, and conserving the natural resources of Los Cabos, including the Humpback Whales in Banderas Bay and the region's turtle populations.

Working with strong partners throughout the region, Los Cabos continues to improve its green initiatives, ensuring the preservation of the environment's beauty and diversity for generations to come.
